Daddy talks to EC2

It was Ali’s turn to go in and share a story with Sami’s class today.

P2180006

This week the elementary school runs a program call “Discover Oman” where the classes go out on great excursions. The wee little ones in EC2 got to go to the Natural History Museum today and on their return they were treated to a story from an “Omani”.

Ali had them captivated with his story about the keys to the souk and the marvelous shield that protected his father.

Sami was very proud to have his Daddy there.

Laith went off to the mangroves.

Rainbow Day 2012

Yesterday was Rainbow Day at the school. Instead of competitive sports days the school opts for a series of fun games for the kids who are divided up into 6 coloured teams. This year Lulu was in White and Laith was in Green but I really hope next year when I have three participating that they all get the same colour so I don’t have to wear two colours in support! They divide the day into two sessions where KG to Grade 2 is in the morning and Grade 3 – 5 is in the afternoon so lucky me got to spend the whole day at school Winking smile.

Lulu was up first with her transfer the water game. I tell you this girl could take on Forrest Gump I am sure!

Sami’s class came out to watch for a while and I love that Lulu got distracted to say hi to him.

Next was a game of statues …

IMG_0189

Lulu just LOVES to chase anyone. Sometimes she goes too fast for herself!

IMG_0184

They moved onto a ball game and then a rather large ball game where you had to kick the ball to the other side.

IMG_0192

Lets just say I am glad she had leggings on. “Take that …”.

IMG_0211

Her final challenge was an obstacle course which she blitzed no problems.

Actually she had another challenge in the gym but I had to leave to go and read to Sami’s EC class. We read Wombat Stew as the focus was to be on Aussie animals, it was lots of fun teaching the kids to say “G’day mate”.

After lunch it was Laith’s turn to shine.

He also loved the water transfer game …

Then Laith moved onto the parachute test … lots of fun there.

They did a different challenge with the big ball. It is a bit hard to see him but the ball is just over him at this point, he has the long sleeves on.

IMG_0293

When the day was over the children ran out onto the field and did a surprise dance for the teachers. It was fantastic and they had managed to keep it a secret from all the staff except the PE teachers who taught them of course.

this is laith

And here is Mr. Hovland the Elementary Principal picking up on the moves.

And the other champ of the day was Sami who patiently stayed at the school all afternoon without much fuss … thank you my lovely boy xxxx

IMG_0282

Needless to say it was a long exhausting day but everyone came home happy and tired.

Update on the February Challenge. Pretty good on the No/Low spend but not a lot of decluttering done this week.

XOXOXO 2012

Happy Valentines friends.

We love to spoil Ali.

This year it was a photo album (actually 2 as I could not find one big enough) filled with gorgeous family photos that have a caption about why we love Ali.

IMG_0128

I used the wonderful website Picnik which sadly is closing down in April but if you have a project in mind get in there now it is a cinch to use.

When I started this project I asked the kids to give me 10 reasons why they love Daddy. My intention had been to use those on the pictures but in the end they did not really match up so I have listed what they told me verbatim and placed it on the back page of the album.

IMG_0130

For this years “love cake” I made an Oreo cheesecake with a blueberry heart on top.

IMG_0131

It is no where near as good as my Mum’s cheesecakes but it did the trick and Ali was happy. Sami does not like cheesecakes so he had some of the Valentines chocolates / treats he got from his classmates today.

IMG_0137

Trying to get a nice family picture is getting more and more difficult with four little munchkins all doing things their way!

IMG_0143

I feel so grateful to have Ali as my true Valentines.

Thanks for stopping by …

P.S. Does your significant other ever spend too much time on their Blackberry / Phone? As we were sitting down to do the presents and cake this is what I faced …

IMG_0133

Grrrrr…. so a rather loud call of attention and this is what I faced, LOL, Love it!

That’s all folks Winking smile

Love is in the Air

Tonight we finished off the Valentines for tomorrow. My two trusty helpers were sticking the names on the hearts and making sure everyone was accounted for.

IMG_0117

To start I made Origami Hearts from construction paper we had here. I followed the tutorial found here and made a few little adjustments. I glued down the side corners so there was no fear of them coming undone in transit. To seal the front we placed the sticky backed foam hearts in the center.

IMG_0120

I just noticed that Sami was wearing his magicians cape inside out, lol.

Lulu wrote out her own little message to go inside the heart and I printed some for Sami and Laith.

For Sami’s class we placed 5 Smarties and his message inside then sealed it up with some tape.

IMG_0121

On the back was the name of each child and teacher. He is very excited to take them to school tomorrow and I even made up an extra one for him from his greatest love – ME!

IMG_0124

Laith and Lulu opted for lollipops so we tucked the message into the side fold.

IMG_0126

Anyone for a bouquet of chuppa chups?

IMG_0125

They are all packed up and ready to go in the morning.

IMG_0127

It’s 11.30pm and I have yet to put the finishing touches on Ali’s gift so I think we might give it to him in the evening when he comes home as my eyes are very weary Winking smile .

Here is a sneak peak …

we heart crafts

Yes it is that time of the year again when my three cherubs want to make and deliver Valentine messages to all the kids in their class and teachers of course. That makes 60 valentines people, yep 60!

P2090022

Had to throw in some educational effort so I got Lulu to sort them in colour and size and then group them into 5’s and count them. We have just enough to complete the project which is a good thing as I can not buy them here.

I agreed to help them make something fun (thank you blog land and Pinterest for inspirations) on the condition that they help with the folding, sticking and do all the writing etc.

P2100023

We are gearing up for a throbbing great day Winking smile

Oh and Aunty Sharon if you are reading this we used up all the sticky back heart foam shapes so next time you see them can you please pick us up a bag, we love hearts.

No / Low Spend Month is going well. When you go out with no money in your wallet is is amazing what you can’t buy!
