The Boys Room Redo

While the kids were away I had a chance to get in and really clean up their rooms and do a little redecorating.

The boys room got a new pirate vs. star wars feel to it.

I made a curtain for the bottom of Sami’s bed so he would have a little place to go “hide” and play. I added a window so that he could look out and see us if we are in the play area.  There is a cot mattress under there with a sheet made in the same pirate material and a few cushions for good measure.

The decals on the wall are a pirate theme. Above his bed is a little book shelf for his favourite book of the week.

Over on Laith’s side the theme turns more galactic. I made a new hide-a-away cover with Star wars pictures printed over it. Then I added a few cushions with more Star wars pictures. What you can not see is that the ceiling above their beds is covered in glow in the dark stars and planets, they LOVE it when the lights go out at night. There is also a stick on saying “Reach for the Stars” which I sincerely hope they do.

The room is designed now so that there is a general play area that Eyad can also enjoy.

This is their door. I found these great peel and stick circles which are both chalk and whiteboard style. It is nice to be able to change the messages.

Their bathroom is more nautical so that I kept it in a neutral zone.

They were happy with the changes and I can honestly say that it is kept neater these days so that of course means I am happier too.

Returning to to study after 20 years will be a big adjustment but this is something I have wanted to do for a while so I am sure all will be well, nah, I mean GREAT.
