Birthday Cake Photos

Here is a phot of "the" cake. let's see if I am mad enough next year?

Happy birthday

Hey there,

Well it took me almost a week to recover from Laith's 2nd birthday party, but alas I am back on track now. I think taking on a big family party when your 5 months pregnant in the heat of summer is not such a smart move.

Anyway the important things is that Laith had a good time and loved his cake. Now allow me to elaborate on this cake which I am going to put down to pregnancy madness. I wanted to make it (mad step #1) but the numbers for the party increased the day before and as 17 children were due to come along with about the same amount of adults I decided I needed to double the size (mad step #2 as gave away and threw out over half the cake!). So I scoured the net for ideas and racked my brain about what I could use for cake decoration etc. Being in Muscat you can't just pop down to Myre, Target, Big W or what ever and get a whole range of "theme products" so instead I managed to get a few Winnie the Pooh and a few Mickey Mouse balloons and cups and plates but NOWHERE to be found was Bob the Builder or Thomas the Tank Engine. I'll cut this long story short and say that I ended up making a rather large Bob the Builder cake which turned out ok (photo attached - I hope!) despite the fact that it was furiously hot in the kitchen even with the AC on as we were cooking all day so when I went to frost the cake the icing was melting and smudging etc. I was up until 1am the night before and up again at 5.30am working madly until the 6pm party. WHY you ask, afterall will a 2 year old remember it...Probably not but that why I say I was MAD!

We are in the final stages of organising our holiday, I won't go into details as it will probably jinx it, will update you later.

The summer is HOT, and getting hotter but hey that's Oman. Got to love those A/C's!

Have been trying to get my friends onto Skype so we can talk for free over the computer, so far only Jules is on and we've probably talked more in the past few weeks than we have in years! Have a look at http://www.skype.com and download the free software then you can call other skype users for free or you can call land lines at a very cheap rate (when I was in Oz calling Oman it's usually $1.38 per min but on skype it was .22cents ..Great value).

Anyway 'til next time ....

Just Starting

I was surfing the net looking for some info on Omantel Shares and found a great Blogsite from Muscati and OceanDream and they made it look so easy that I thought I would give it ago. My last webpage took too long to administer so I am hoping this new format will be easy thus encouraging me to keep you all updated with our life in Oman.

I am not going to go on here (I'll save that for the next posts!), and due to the nature of the culture of this country I am not about to be too free with my speech, instead I'll try to stick to simple family and friends stuff.

So here it goes...
