The kids have been back at school a week now and all is going well. In fact for me it is just pure bliss. Sorry to sound like a bad mummy but after having the kids home for the long hot summer I am selfish enough to say that having a little peace in the morning is a wonderful thing.
It is only 8 weeks until Bubba 4 joins us so I am really trying to make the most of the next 8 weeks cramming as much sewing, errands, and odd jobs in as possible.
Back to the munchkins though …
Laith is in Grade 3 and loving it already. Lulu is in EC2 and Sami in EC1. There was a mad dash (in fact it was just desperate all out war) to get him toilet trained by the 23rd August and I am relieved to say that we made it … just ;-) He and Lulu are next door to each other and just love it, they can not wait to get into their classrooms in the morning in fact I need to remind them to say bye and give their Mumma a kiss!
Laith’s pencil case zip broke the first morning and I figured it was about time I got sewing again so I made him one.
It has cotton outer, lined with PUL so the pens won’t bleed etc in case a cap falls off. And I made a center panel with the two cotton pieces and some off cut batting. I quilted it to give it a little stability too. Finally a little bit of appliqué on the front so it won’t get lost. Right now I am working on finishing a blanket for the baby. I decided to crochet it which was quite funny to start with considering I had not done crochet for over 20 years. The squares are all finished, it is joined and now I am tidying all the lose threads and about to put a border around it. I had planned to back it with flannel just because I feel it might be a bit scratchy near a baby even though it is pure wool … the jury is out on that one so if you have any ideas please let me know. The gals over at Crafty Mamas have of course been fantastic in their help. I love that forum it feels like I have lovely little group of friends over the other side of the world who have similar interests as me and often the same dilemmas not only in craft but kids etc.
On my return from holidays my laptop died a messy death due to a nasty virus that my anti-virus program did not catch. Anyway she has been at the Laptop Spa and got an upgrade to Windows 7 (TG Vista is now history I had no end of trouble with it), a new Internet Security program and finished off her treatment with a brand spanking new battery (why the old one dies after just 16 months is anyone's guess - %$#@ throw away society we live in grrrr). So lets hope that she is now feeling like a new gal and ready to take on the world ;-) I have spent the day reloading all my programs, very exciting stuff hey??(not).
Thanks for stopping by …
