I have sat here most of the day glued to the computer listening to the news from Brisbane as it is in the throws of a devastating flood.

The above picture is of the Eagle Street Pier. There is usually a lovely walkway, and boat pontoons in front of those buildings.
My Mum evacuated her home yesterday. Her new home that she has barely lived in as she has spent the last three months with me. I can not bare the thought that she could lose everything, it is heartbreaking. Can you believe she left here arriving home in Brisbane on Sunday only to face this crisis days later! My brother is ok as his house on higher ground. He tells me that he has spoken to my cousin Lisa who moved to Brisbane late last year and she too is ok.
Supermarkets are empty, power is cut off, gsm networks overloaded and the peak levels are yet to be reached. It is a terrible picture. Lives have been lost and many are missing feared dead.
My thoughts and prayers go out to all.
All the best to your mum Clodagh. Good to hear you other family are ok. Thankfully my brother and sister live in suburbs that are unaffected by floods.
ReplyDeleteI looked at the flooding in Rosalie-suburb first to go under and was in shock as this time a few months ago it was my route to work.
Just all so devastating.
I hope your mum's home doesn't get damaged and that she will be able to return to it soon, glad your other family is safe.
