Wednesday morning "the girls" left the boys behind and headed out for a lovely brunch followed by a little retail therapy. The restaurant is gorgeous and we had a lovely brunch. On the table is a box of cards with thought provoking questions which we had a great time asking each other.
The food was nice and all the little touches very special. I love that your doll can sit at the table with you and if you didn't bring one you can borrow one from the huge selection they have there (you can see them in the background in the next picture).
Once brunch was done it was time for Melissa to head over to the salon for her hair appointment and spa treatment (ie. get all the pen and other marks off her and reestablish the rats nest on her head).
While they were at the salon I was looking for a set of pj's but having trouble with sizes and along comes this gorgeous booming New York voice asking if I needed help. It was "Sharon D" an AG personal shopper! Seriously they have personal shoppers free of charge who can do the running around for you while you sit in a nice lounge area. She was a real doll herself and added to our experience.
Lulu had saved for a year to buy a new doll as a friend for Melissa. Her favourite doll is Kit who comes from Cincinnati , Ohio during the Great Depression. We selected Kit and one new dress, and Lulu's money even went far enough to buy a carry bag. I got Lulu some pj's with matching sets for the girls (Mel and Kit). Aunty Sharon couldn't resist a few goodies for the girls too.
American Girl is one of those OMG places where you can not believe so much money is spent on dolls. As Aunty Sharon rightly observed - it has a license to print money!
For us it was nice to give Lulu a really special day, sans brothers, in a place that lit up her face like Disneyland. I also like the message that these dolls send it's all good clean wholesome stuff and not the horrible "its all about me" tripe etc you get with other commercial dolls that quite frankly can encourage "mean girls".
We headed home for our next adventure going to see Cinderella.
Thanks for stopping by ...
