After a great day / night up at Jabal Akdhar we headed down into Nizwa and then across to Bahla which is famous for its pottery.
The fort was built in the 1600's as a palace and later converted into a fort. Mum and the family in the courtyard ...
Inside you can see the living quarters of the Imam and his family, the servants rooms, dining room, kitchen, school, prison and majlis
The painted ceilings are beautiful
and I just love all the old Madoos (chests) that scatter the fort.
After Jabrin we headed back to the hotel for the night via Ali's short cut (cough cough ;-)
In the morning we went up towards Al Hamra (where Ali's family is from) and went to see the Al Hoota Caves. You can't take pictures inside. It has been set up now as a tourist facility and it is nice to see but be warned there is over 230 steps not that easy with three children. There is a train that takes you from the tourist centre down to the cave but to be honest that is a really short trip to walk it is once you are inside the cave you need the train! LOL. The train has been out of operation since Gono cyclone but they say it will be back soon. You need to make bookings for the tour especially on weekends.
On leaving the caves Laith thought it would be a good idea to climb the wall.
After the Caves we headed home. A great trip!
